Registration for the 2023 season of baseball and softball season has now closed. We may have some space for the younger kids in Peanuts (ages 4-5). If you are interested, please email jake@wclittleleague.org.
Welcome to the 2023 season of Walnut Creek Little League! WCLL has been proudly operating for over 60 years offering baseball and softball to children ages 4 to 14. We thank you for choosing WCLL and being part of this great community!
So you are probably asking what’s next for my child in WCLL? Well, this email should outline the highlights for the next 4-5 months.
Team Formations: Baseball, Softball, and Peanut teams are currently being formed for all divisions and that process will complete the first week in February. Around that time, you should receive an email from your team manager. If you don’t hear from your manager by February 15th, please contact your respective player agent:
Uniforms: The Oakland Athletics are proud sponsors of WCLL and are providing uniforms for all teams. The uniforms will include hat, jersey, belt and socks. Pants will need to be purchased by parents, and your team manager will communicate what color pants to buy.
Practices: Managers will be scheduling practices for your teams in February. The exact start date and frequency of practices will vary based upon the division.
Opening Day: Please mark you calendars that WCLL Opening Day is scheduled for Saturday, February 25th at Castle Rock Sport Fields. More information will be forthcoming from your team manager.
Games: Games will be played from Opening Day until Memorial Day. As with practices, the exact start date, frequency and locations of games will vary by division. Your team manager will communicate the game schedule before Opening Day. For those divisions AA thru Majors, there will be an end-of-season tournament that culminates in Championship Saturday on May 20th.
Post-Season: The season does not end for everyone once Memorial Day hits. WCLL participates in two different district-led tournaments in June:
Please note that WCLL is always looking for volunteers to help with these post-season games, so it will be a great opportunity to help our league and see some really good baseball.
It is important to WCLL that we provide a way for players with special needs and their families to enjoy America’s game, which would normally not be accessible to them. So WCLL is proud to support the Challenger Baseball Division, which is an official division of Little League for players with special needs. Players with physical or developmental challenges can play organized team baseball, as rules are designed to minimize competition and maximize fun and sportsmanship.
Registration for Challenger Division registration is now open and can be accessed at the link below:
