Dear Walnut Creek Little League families,
The Walnut Creek Little League Board of Directors has voted to cancel the remainder of the 2020 spring season. We do this with a very heavy heart but given the uncertainty around physical distancing rules and field usage, we feel it is the right move to make. This decision will bring everyone closure and allow the Board to focus on what the “new normal” is ahead, rather than trying to salvage what we currently have.
We are working on a plan on how we are going to handle league finances along with your registration and volunteer fees. The plan is to put money back in your pocket, but we first need to evaluate the expenses that the League has already incurred this season. You will receive an email during the week of April 27th with our detailed plan.
Although we have voted to cancel the rest of the spring season, it does not mean that baseball and softball are completely done for 2020. What it does mean, is the Board is going to start putting energy towards what a modified version of baseball and softball could look like in the near future. As soon as the physical distancing rules allow for team sports and Walnut Creek and School districts approve field usage, we will start to mobilize. Until then, keep practicing within physical distancing guidelines. I can personally attest that my family has had some epic games of whiffle ball and it has been a ton of fun. Sometimes it is easy to get caught up in the reps and technique and forget about the pure fun of the game.
